Why would I want or use a dedicated printer for printing postage instead of my laser or inkjet printer?
There are a number of reasons you might consider using a separate dedicated postage printer:
- Having a dedicated printer for printing postage means that you don't have to feed labels into your laser or inkjet printer when you need to prepare a mailpiece. You also don't have to worry about someone accidently printing on your labels, or accidently printing postage on normal paper.
- Having a dedicated printer for printing postage makes printing quicker, saving you valuable time for other activities.
- The printer path on a label printer is straight which eliminates jamming and resulting label waste.
- Finally, thermal printers are less expensive to operate than laser or inkjet printers and you never run out or need to purchase ink or toner.
